Crow privacy policy
Last updated 8 November 2026
Crow works out everything on your phone. Orco does not collect, store or sell your location or anything that identifies you.
Who we are
Crow is made by ORCO STUDIOS LTD ("Orco Studios"), registered in England and Wales, company number 17560751, 16 Sharon Way, Cannock, WS12 2NF, United Kingdom. For anything about privacy, email [email].
What Crow uses, and why
- Your location, to show what's around you and how far away it is. It is used on your phone only, and is never stored by Crow or sent to Orco.
- Your compass and motion sensors, to know which way you're facing. Used on your phone only.
- Your camera, only when you open the camera view, to label what you're looking at. Pictures are not saved unless you choose to share one, and are never sent to Orco.
Crow asks for permission before using your location or camera. You can change this at any time in your phone's settings.
Services Crow asks about places
To show maps and find places, Crow asks these services about the area you're looking at. They receive the position of that area, as any map app's services do, but nothing that identifies you:
- OpenStreetMap map tiles and place search (Nominatim and Overpass), some requests passed through Orco's website host, Netlify
- OSRM, for walking and driving times
- Open-Meteo, for land heights used to check what's in view
- Wikipedia and Wikidata, for descriptions and facts about places
Each of these services has its own privacy policy.
What stays on your phone
Offline packs you download, and your settings (such as your chosen pack or view), are stored on your phone so Crow works without signal. Deleting Crow deletes them.
Anonymous usage counts
Crow can count which features are used, such as "camera opened", to help us improve it. This is off unless you say yes, contains no location and nothing that identifies you, and you can turn it off under Privacy in the app.
Children
Crow is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask what personal data we hold about you; for Crow, we hold none. If you email us, we keep your message only as long as needed to reply. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
